This control unit, used on your saw has not the newer full throttle calibration posibility. That came later in 2017. So you can call this updated saw a version 2 if you want, but it has nothing to do with the m-tronic firmware. The control unit has a changed spark plug boot, torsion spring and cover.

This is what confuses me. Mine has the boot with the cover that my stihl dealer says is the newer one. The Stihl Southwest warehouse is 75 miles from me so I called and talked to the Stihl tech and he said my cylinder is the one that takes theBPMR larger plug

1140 020 1210

Now I had a closer look:

Yes that cylinder 1140 020 1210 uses the older spark plug 0000 400 7000 NGK BPMR7A and 1110 400 7005 Bosch WSR 6 F. Your control unit (previous version) with marking 1140-400-4705 on it has the order part no. 1140 400 4709 and comes with previous spark plug terminal 1128 405 1000 and previous spark plug boot cover 1128 084 1400.

So if your Stihl dealer says it`s the newer version he is "right", because the previous control unit to your current 1140 400 4709 was the 1140 400 4706. You see it depends on the point of view. It`s a little bit confusing because of all the changes and versions over the years.

So mine was manufactured 9/2016 and serial number is 182035xxx. Cylinder is marked Stihl on the right side and 111.2 on the left and carries a Bosch WSR6F spark plug, which would make it the German-built twin of the above saw.
However the ignition module is marked 1140 400 4700 B. My eyesight is not particularly good despite spectacles and a strong light so it's possible I was wrong on that count but perhaps this is a non-EPA module or something like that.
