The latter is for sale locally for..i think a bit too much money given how unpopular they are in the south and parts can be scarce...was there a difference in these saws?

It’s not, as a fella mentioned in the post above my last one. A 2071 is a 371. A 2171 is an OE372. 2172 is an xtorq 372.

It’s not a screaming deal at that price unless it’s minty

When they came out the shops were full of them locally...low use, clean...with smoked top ends from bearing failure, often ruined the case half too. Got sick of screwing with them, a few shops established policies for not taking in XT 300 series saws.

Not an X-torque in the pic. You guys really need to do some research.
J-reds aren't my strong point since there was only 1 J-red dealer near me and I have only seen one J-red in the wild. I thought 2071 vs 2171 was 372 vs 372xt, which was why I said I thought it was an xt, plus from what I can see of the pic that could be a 2153 for all I know.

Nope. 2153=one piece top cover

We never had a dealer locally...in 17 years ive put hands on a total of 2 of them, both smaller models.
