What species of tree? Bark looks like black locust, but not the foliage.
From the title, I guessed you'd have climbed it.
cottonwood. And not in spectacular condition. Tree had rot in the middle of 3 of the 4 stems, climbing it would have been a bit dicey. I was going to chain the two sides together and climb it anyway... but, Jeff decided that a lift made him feel better about the job.
First time I EVER took a tree apart with a lift (and that is the WAY to go if there is funds available to pay for it)
