Here's the question: has anyone ever tried putting a 4 way on a supersplit? Obviously they work pretty well on hydraulic splitters, but I have never heard of anyone putting one on a supersplit. I have the supersplit with the 4.5 subaru engine. My other Idea is to weld anothor wedge on top of the one already there, to make it from 6" high to 10-12" high. Let me know if any of you guys have tried this or anything.
Thanks,
Dan

by the design of that splitter it almost looks like you might be hurting yourself more than helping by doing either of those things. The only way to know for sure though is to try it. After all on paper a helicopter shouldn't fly.

I have a super split also. Mine has the 6 or 6.5 robin engine. Unless you were splitting perfect wood I wouldn't do it. I don;t think it will be very efficient. But that is just my opinion. If you can make it cheap and put the splitter back to a single wedge easily then why not try?

search it up on youtube... there is one that was made.

I posed this question to Super Split recently. The reason they don't do it is because you can get too much resistance which would slow the ram down enough to stall it in the wood.

Although I don't see how raising the height of the wedge a few inches would hurt.

Depends upon the momentum behind the ram. CUCV did the 4-way on his, but he also added an extra flywheel (down low which also helps with the center of gravity), amongst other mods.

and here's the AS thread on it:

I know the wood he is splitting there is ideally sized, but still, that is some really good production for a single operator. The conveyor couldn't hardly keep up with him. Love that video.
