543xp carb conversion thought

I have the early flavor of the 543xp with the different much more expensive carb. I tried changing it out to a generic Chinese one and while it does work I can’t get the off idle hesitation out of it no matter what I do. I was wondering if the early saws could be converted to fit the newer style carb.

From what I’ve been reading and according to my dealer there is no carb kit for the original carb either. If I could get the newer carb to fit I’d just buy that and hopefully be done with it. Any ideas?

I opened up the muffler took out the base gasket and advanced the timing a bit and it was like a different animal.

If it is a Walbro HD carburetor, you need the K-10-HD rebuilt kit. I can only find HD carburetors for this saw. Which carburetor do you exactly have?

That number is from the carb cover plate, I need the number off the carb body itself

There’s a 54B and under it there is a 536. On the other side it says HD.

Thank you for the pictures. It is a HD carb as I already said. You need the kit I mentioned above.

A kit might help. But, you should take a close look at the inlet needle lever. If its to the lean side, you will get that symptom (hesitation off idle) I'd set it where its suppose to be and try it.

Depends on how much you open it. I opened up under the factory deflector and kept the screen on the one I had. Yea it was a bit louder

Any idea what year they swapped carbs?
