Picked up a 2015 550 runs good but it does have the carb issue. Question I have is what do I need to order to get the latest edition carb? Do I need fuel line, I seen where one guy put a ring support in the intake to help seal the new one. More or less I just want to do a carb swap and want to make sure I do it right and don’t get into it and find out I need other parts beside the carb. Also should I cut out a section on the top cover to let heat out better?

Depends what carb is on the saw, but being a 15 model I will guess it has a AT1 or AT1A. If you can have the firmware updated before you do anything, that helps some guys. How is the saw behaving anyway? If it has a stumble adjusting the bleed screw can help, although it did nothing for my saw.

2015 was a really bad time for that model, so you you will want to go over the saw not just replace the carb. The main issue being air leaks, so a pressure/vac test is in order. If you can't do that inspecting a few things will at least help. The AT carbs can cover up air leaks so this stuff is a must it you want it right. This is what I would do. Remove the carb and inspect the intake boot to make sure it was installed correctly. Next remove the cylinder "yes remove the cylinder" inspect the base gasket, and carefully remove the transfer covers and carefully clean the seals and sealing surfaces and reinstall with Hondabond, Yamabond or another proper sealant. The seals were often badly shaped and would leak without sealant, and you can't buy new seals without a whole new top end with them .:surprised3:

Now the new AT12 carb will come with a new fuel line, you will also want the sealing ring part #585 19 50-01 The carb will need to have the correct firmware that matches the ignition coil on your saw. The carb comes blank and will never work correctly without the firmware.

I know I know, many of these saws are laying in the woods exactly where they were thrown lol.

That’s what I wanted to hear I may just have the shop do a leak test and update. It idles fine revs fine until it starts to get warm then it will not idle. I can get it to start up but it takes some pulls, and keep in the gas but it doesn’t want to stay at idle for the most part. Sometimes it will sometimes it won’t. I haven’t checked to see if i can adjust the bleed screw.

Remove the muffler and take a look at the piston and cylinder through the exhaust port before you take it in. The carb has to be remove to adjust the screw, try the update first.

Copy I’ll pull it and see. It’s got great power but that doesn’t mean it can’t have some scoring.

Does the carb have to be removed or just loosened enough to get at it.

If a package of craft beers helps Andre you know who to PM. Got a newer spot in AA making some fantastic IPAs and sours.

That would be nice, but unfortunately beer is a big-time no no right now.
