So I scored a 576xp that was used minimally, until it was straight gassed. Piston was scored up pretty good and the cylinder had a bunch of transfer which i worked on to see if the jug could be salvaged. The last pics are after i cleaned it up. Above the exhaust port there are two visable scratches that I can "click" into with a point. Would you guys run this or just toss it/shelf it?

Hard to tell how bad it is from the pics, but I reckon I would run it. It can be one of those things that depends on your expectations, and what failure will cost you.

I have an Echo CS-4200 that had seized up by a spark plug failure. After cleaning, all was good except a very noticeable gouge (probably 1mm wide, and well through the coating - far worse than yours) the full length of the piston stroke. I had an aftermarket piston for $25, and a new cylinder couldn't be had for less than $150, so ran it, albeit with low expectations. More than 10 tanks later, it is my favorite saw, good power, and very easy to start (low compression probably helps :D)

The only scratches are VERY little, its the two above the port. I think im just going to pop a new piston in and run her like you said, unless i can get the entire kit for a fair price, i might just change it all

Does Meteor make a piston alone for this? I cant find any? The only one with a name is a golf brand. Any concerns besides the circlips on Golfs?

I don't think Meteor make one from what I can see.

I buy a lot of my aftermarket parts from arbortec.net - they have one for $6.22USD, probably under $10 including postage. All their parts come in Farmertec wrapping, and I have not had a faulty part yet, they all seem to be great quality, especially for the price. http://www.arbortec.net/product-p/hs57551.htm. They have never failed me on shipping yet either, they dispatch quickly, and I always get them within 2 weeks.

A site sponsor may be able to help, but I highly doubt you would get prices this good. I don't think twice when prices are this low, even if it is crap, you have hardly lost anything.

That looks like it could be cleaned up some more possibly, to me, Maybe.
What did you clean it up with?
I went with some course emery first also, some muiatic (there was a lot of transfer) now 400 grit.

Heres a picture of the cylinder, where the arrow is i can actually feel through the paper as I polish it. I can also click the handle of a spoon (gotta have coffee while polishing) in the groove and it actually will trace it up and down, like a slot car.

You threw me for a loop calling it a 575. What are you looking to get out of it? It'd loose some compression with those scratches but it would run. So if you're just looking to get it running I'd slap a cheap piston in it and see what happens.

Didnt even realize the typo oops 576xp...correction made, THANKYOU

the prices have really come down o the oem cylinders for husqvarna saws. i sell that one for 215 shipped.

Just getting back to this project. Is the 575 piston the same as the 576? I might just throw in the golf to see what king of compression I get out of it.

that jug will be fine. when it comes to the golf pistons it's important to use OEM circlips, insure that the locating pins are secured, and that you have sufficient ring end gap. i won't use them anymore myself. i've been tempted to try a piston from lil red barn.

Yea saw them from thsfe also. But is the the 575 the same as the 576 piston? Port wise.

I want to order a base gasket also for this saw. Now all the ipl diagrams show this one

When I have this one

Based on my saw plate above, which Ipl should I be looling at? 2009-01?? Any i look at shows the top base gasket. My saw case is open on the ports and will not support the top gasket?? Whats the correct part number? Thanks for all help.

for a 576 you will definitely want the base gasket in the lower pic. doesn't matter what IPL you look at. as long as it's a 576 you'll get the right one. 575 and 576 base gaskets are not interchangable.

That top diagram is from a 576xp ipl and it shows the wrong one then i need??
Anyone have the correct part number or even one to sell?
