The first time I took that test, I had never even climbed a tree (other than kid stuff). I had been working with a lawn and tree care business, merely diagnosing and spraying trees. All I did was read through the ISA arborist certification guide a couple times and I was ready...passed it first try.

The second time I took the test, I had two years of climbing under my belt, but still read through that same guide...passed it again with flying colors.

I must say, that ISA arborist certification guide is mostly all you need to get you ready for the test. Industry experience gives you reference to the material you read in that manual.
 
I need to get one. Works pretending they don't have an extra. money pretty tight at home this month w my new baby :(
