First up is an unmarked hatchet I picked up, did a restoration on and made a sheath for. Very happy with how it came out, neat sheath to match it. This really would be best for display. The steel is very soft, it will nick easily. The fit on the head isn't great but the handle is wallored out as well. If you use this for serious work the head will come loose and the edge will nick, I'm just being honest. Beautiful piece.

$50 shipped for the hatchet and sheath.

Next up is a Plumb I modified into a tomahawk style.

When I picked this up, I'm not sure if the edge side had even been used, it certainly hadn't been dulled or sharpened. I reprofiled the edge and added a bevel on the back side. I then cut the hammer side off and reprofiled the head shape. I was probably overly careful according to some videos I've since watched, it was a slow process for sure. The steel is absolutely fantastic, a good file won't touch it. I've taken this one out and chopped some small white oak and split some kindling, the edge didn't knick and the head didn't come loose. Looking at the fit it doesn't look original but it definitely didn't loosen up on me. Certain people have a way of breaking anything but I'd say it would make a very good camp hatchet or general user. Course you could always display it.

Next up is an Estwing hatchet. Most probably already know about these. I own two if that tells you anything. I split kindling, pounded felling wedges, and did some carving with nothing but an Estwing for years. Steel isn't as tough as the Plumb but certainly not as soft as others. It's a good middle ground, you can file it if you have to but it won't need it every time you look at it. Especially for kindling or camp chores. I believe they've switched over to the canvas sheaths. This has a leather, still pliable.

$30 shipped including sheath

All these will come with an edge on them.

Fiskars chopping axe. This one has split a couple rick. Lifetime warranty. I chopped with one of these last year and really liked it but I'm trying to thin the herd since I've got other axes to use and only do so much chopping. Sheath included.

She's a looker.

It's a top notch piece of steel and the eye hasn't been touched so if you're looking for a real user you could always replace the handle easily. If it's display she's ready to go. :)

Also I'd consider a few different trades.

Gouge chisel, Japanese/pull handsaw, knives(mainly a large folder but open to others), other axes/hatchets. Camping gear or things like that.

If I use cord, everybody local thinks I'm crazy, if I use rick, everybody in the city thinks I'm crazy. Can't win. :)

That hatchet isn't available anymore. I've got some full size axes.
