[B]041 or 038?? [/B]

OK, I'm not sure my 041 is an 041.. 15 years ago my step dad marked the model number on the back of the air filter covers of his saws with a sharpie. The 041 I have, has not had the origanal tag on top of it since I can ever remember. The reason I am confused, is when I get on ebay and search for 041, all I see are parts for the Older cast aluminum 041's. My 041 Looks EXACTLY like my 038 farm boss.. did stihl make 041's in the next generation saws???? I am wondering if its an 038, or an 04? someting else. The only reason I care (I've called that saw "The 041" for almost 1/2 my life, Thats that saws name)., I want to replace the missing tag on top with the correct one. Sorry, I don't have a picture, But If you know what a 038av, 038avs, 038 farm boss looks like.. THATS IT.

Nope, and nope... Those ain't it.. mine looks like 038 that came out in the early 80's or even maybe 1980, and was made untill not to long ago, like maybe 10 years ago or so.. I bet its just an 038, or a REAL rare 041. I think it could be a rare 041, since some old 041's shared the same bore/stroke as some next gen 038's... May be there was a rare next gen plastic 041.. hmmmmm who knows.. no really, Who Knows???? lol

041 has a horizontal engine and all 038's are vertical cylinder design.

I believe there is an 048 and it looks like the 038.

OK, so far everyone agrees that my 041 is not an 041... I will research 048, and see if thats it... I bet that my 041, is an 038.. But it could be an 042, or 048, and my step dad remembered wrong when the tag came off. Well obviously he remembered wrong, cuz we all know its not a 041.. Thanks guys

Yes, No, and No. Its not a 042, or 048.. It does look just like the 038 in the picture, and just like the 038 in my saw rack. Thanks for the links! :yourock: Well, I just riveted a new 041 farm boss tag on top, and thats what it is to everyone thats ever run that saw. But now we know, its gota be an 038.. Thanks again guys.

The saws and the parts for them are rare.
