Bird house

My 2nd carving lol. Doing it out of some super tough elm wood. Not done yet. Should I be applying oil on this ask I’m working on it when it sits over few night before I’m all done? I don’t think I can get my 5” grinder and flap wheel in there so I think I’ll use a 1/4” grinder with flap wheel then drill the hole for the bird , should I keep the bark on or take it off?

That's pretty cool.

I'd hollow it out from the bottom maybe. And then glue a bottom back in.
