Brave detent replacement

I’m replacing the Energy detent valve on my 26 ton Brave. Is it necessary to relieve the hydraulic pressure before unscrewing the detent assembly?

Just to be safe cycle the valve a few times with the engine off before you start loosing fitting on the valve. You don't want any surprise's.

If you are planning on taking the detent assembly apart be aware there are several small ball bearings that are under spring pressure.

You may already have this, but here are the instructions to replace the detent spring cover assembly.

Put a bag over the detent before removing the collar - save yourself an hour searching every nook and cranny for lost balls.
