Our Giant Eagle, wester Pa eastern OH food chain, is selling similar “kiln dried European birch” for $6.99. Wife and I went home, looked at our 15 cords and determined we were rich.
I should snap a pic when I am in town. The local gas station has a 10 stick bundle for $8.95 and it looks like 80% basswood. The guy is there filling it twice a week an the rack must hold 50 bundles.
I sell bundles of silver maple for $4, and the 2 local stores sell them for $6.
I call it 'junk wood' but it burns quick and hot, splits easy, makes for a great campfire.
What bugs me is that most of the stores sell stuff that is way too green.
