Buying through dealer vs. direct

Do you prefer to buy equipment from a local dealer or direct from the equipment manufacturer? Why?

used from owner,

dealers have thier mark up, factory has even more markup so the dealers can stay competetive.

also once most equipment leaves the building yer taking a 50% hit on value.

so buy from private company or city auction. they will get more then a dealer will give for a trade in and you will pay much less then new.

only downside is used equals unknown maintenance, just go into it with open eyes and a clue as to what yer lookin for

though it seems lately everyone thinks that haggelling is thier middle name...
