Hi, all:
I just picked up my very nice 2008 60TX (800 verified hours and owned only by the local reputable Gamma tree company). Of course, like the one most of you guys have, no remote control. I contacted Kurt, the owner of “autofeedplus.com” based in Michigan. They’re the people who made the original reverse action auto feed control system for wood chipper. I bought one of them and it’s great. After I bought my SC60TX, I started looking for options to get a remote control elsewhere from Vermeer. The Vermeer unit cost about $6000 installed (1500 for the hand held, 4000 for the in-machine unit plus labor). For me, price is not the only deal breaker. The switches used on the Vermeer remote are “soft” push button like the one on gas pumps. The ones Kurt uses for the Carlton 7015 are user toggle switches that can be replaced by user and those are the kind you want. He has 2 other people interested in getting a unit for sc60tx beside me. If you are like me, contact him to show your interest. The more people interested, the more likely he’ll commit resources for the development and the faster it will come to the market for us. Erwin

no one interested, Hah? I thought that this is exciting stuff. imagine a new remote control system that's a lot cheaper than the Vermeer original, AND bypasses the entire Vermeer computer junks in there once for all, directly controls the valves! Erwin

I'm just starting out and don't have a lot of funds, and it looks like I'll be buying a SC50TX. If that would work with this machine, its something I might look into a bit later. Thanks for sharing!

Yes. It will work for that machine too. I just finish the last part of wire tracing and other configuration work with Kurt. Waiting for the prototype now. It’s a much economical option to the 6k remote from Vermeer. Keep in touch.

the project is done. figured out all the logics for the track movements and cutter control. field tested the prototype and it worked great. you can run the machine from hundreds of feet away. Great track response with three speed setting: crawling speed for cutting advance, normal traveling speed and fast traveling speed. The only thing missing compared to the 6K Vermeer one is the auto sweep function.

It seems to me like you would be better off buying the right machine to start with. Then you get the Carlton remote with the machine. The Vermeer will never be comparable in quality or performance to a Carlton machine. An aftermarket add-on remote will never perform like a remote built for a specific model of machine. Just my opinion.

Not true. The remote I use is indeed used on the Carlton machine, same quality. As to the build quality and capacity of the Vermeer sc60tx, lots of people will disagree with you. I won’t say that all Vermeer made machine are great, but their sc60tx and their new cycle-100, the new skid steer both speak for themselves. Just my opinion.

IMG_4750.JPG finally got everything worked out. At first have to do it without auto sweep for a few month. Since I was used to using auto sweep and it's just so much easier and more efficient. Spent another 20 hours to do the rewiring and now it's working perfectly. If u contact him and he does not respond you well, u have to just tell him that you want to buy his remote for a old Carlton 7015. make sure u buy both remove and receiver box. Then you figure out the circuitry and wire all the functions ur self. He's not the most pleasant person to deal with, BUT he does deliver what he promised. I think that he started having issues with customer relations after the big companies cheated him on his wood chipper auto feed.

He quoted me 1K for the unit, with the espectation that I'll figure out all the Vermeer circuits n connecters for him. Not sure how much He'll charge u just getting his hardware of the shelf. My advice to u is just tell him u have a 7015. IMG_4591.JPG

u'll b better off letting him do it for u for what he wants now (2000). on top of the carlton system, u'll need to voltage regulating module which gives u a much slower (adjustable) track speed when the wheel is spinning. But, if u r super proficient with circuit design n wiring, u can do it ur self. But, again U r saving 500 buck and will cost u many hours. U can make that much with the machine in an hour or two.

As to price, he's asking for 2000 for everything I have. if u get the carlton system for 1450, u have to do some adaptation and add the voltage modulation module ur self.
