Top piece in the pic looks like a lot of the oak I get. Tough to tell with that weathered wood. No matter what it is, it’ll make good firewood, it’s definitely hardwood.

Thanks man.. is there a website or app for tree identification you'd recommend? I recently bought 10 acres and about 6 is heavily wooded and in need of clearing. Here is a pic of the end cut. Sorry to take so long, but was out trying to make a buck or 2 today. 20190220_173244.jpg

Best thing is pick a small tree I.d. book and take it with you when you cut. Between the leaves and bark you’ll learn quick. Or have a friend that knows wood to go with you when you cut.
