caring for a new jap maple in boston

i planted a japanese maple in august 2018. it just went through its first winter and spring is now here and im wondering if there is anything i should be doing to it. compost? fertilizer?

Nope. Just watch it as it buds out. Out here we don't get consistent moisture in the spring. You can probably rely on the rain. Just dont go 3 weeks without water if it's come out of dormancy.
