The Terry Hale felling videos are excellent. His explanations with the physics involved put perspective on how people get into trouble.

Some may like this one , some may not
I understand the efficiency of his 'snedding' method, but I do not like him using his knee to push a running chainsaw forward. I teach people to keep their body parts away from a moving chain.

As a variation, I sometimes show people a modified 'H'-cut, where the saw is pushed forward from the sawyer on the near side of the evergreen tree (working from the bottom to the top) with the hands only; turned on its side and pulled back along the top of the trunk; then pushed forward along the opposite side of the trunk.

After limbs and branches are cleared, go back and cut the limbs below, checking for weight bearing, and bucking the trunk as you proceed.

Anyone have a copy of the training materials for the Boy Scouts of America Chain Saw Safety Training course, No. 20-136 ?

Just curious. I like to see how all these different courses fit together, or where they differ.

Thanks.

The safety issue can be incorporated AND you should also know some "8 ways to fall a tree" before you incorporate; triple hinge, intentional barber chair or snap cuts

A lot of the BC videos are based on falling big trees.
A lot of junk on YouTube, but also some other good resources. I listed some that I like in another forum - will copy some of the links here:
