Clue me in Stihl 024av

My saw arrived. I had a new 325 rim and drum, I purchased a new air cleaner for it. I noticed the old screen air filter is smaller than the new flocked air filter? Is there different models within the 024 model we’re a different sized airfilter is used?

Being in the same family as my 026, I'd say yes. I've got an older model and know there's a compatability mismatch with both air and fuel filters.

Most of the 024's used a shorter filter while the 026's used a filter about 1/2 again taller. Only a small piece of the pie Bill.

Early 024 had the squat filter, later ones with the carb top diaphragm vent had a taller one with a coresponding hole in the back. Also different fuel tank vents dictated different filters too, it's a bit confusing!! Hope this helps!

Sorry Bill, I'm a Stihl man but I have to admit their engineers must be on meth. Always making changes within models, some of which are good, some not so. You've got to be very careful when you order. Do you have the MediaCat software with all the technical bulletins? it's a great help.
