Well it's that time of years again. The cold dry weather makes my hands and fingers split and crack open. It can be a little painful at times but I have found an answer. Many years ago I discovered that supper glue works wonders. The reason the cracks hurt is because the skin is tearing and causes pain and makes the splits get bigger. I simple drop of supper glue will glue the crack shut and it also sterilizes the wound and stops the crack from splitting even more and allows the split to heal. I try to buy the small single glue tubes at the dollar store or wallmart for about $0.50 a tube.
If you suffer from cracked fingers, give the supper glue a try. It works great and stops the pain because it stops it from continuing to split.

As a Market Manager in a meat shop I used the super glue as a repair on small cuts my employees would get from time to time, worked like a charm. Just wait till the bleeding stopped, sanitize and clean the cut real good and apply the super glue and back to work.

Worked much better than tape, while I made them wear Cut Gloves, accidents still happened and most of these cuts were from sharp bones. In the old days we never heard of a Cut Glove and the super glue was always handy.

Good idea. I've finally found something that will prevent most cracks. O'keffe's working hands. It actually works. My hands used to crack all the time in the winter, still do some, but not as bad.

I have been using the super glue trick on cracks around my fingernails for a long time and it works great.

    Not trying to argue but!
Ummm! Supper glue wasn't invented until 1942, so I doubt it was used in ether WW
Doesn't the soap cut the oils on your hands? Isn't that why you wash your hands is to clean the dirt and oil off them?
Why use supper glue on a rope that can be heated to seal the ends. Seems a waste of supper glue when a little heat will get the job done for free.

My bad on WWI. Guess you can't believe everything on the web. Thanks for pointing that out.
As for the rope, I'm talking about smaller rope, <1/2" . imo it does much better than heat and doesn't take much. You can't use heat on cotton rope.

A good hand lotion should prevent dry skin and cracks.

In the ER they glued my face and nose together. I fell out of bed and ripped my face open on the night stand and dresser they were high fiving when the blood showed. Lol. Yup a special super glue on my nose. We tried a new bed that was higher so my second fall was longer. Great, Found out I wasn’t getting into a deep sleep REM. C PAP machine is what I needed. With the mask I look like a fighter pilot.

Huskers, works well but doesn't prevent it completely. Supper glue is a short term fix but does allow for the crack to start healing up and most importantly it stops the pain that comes with them.
Surprisingly supper glue does not sting or burn at all and I suspect it disinfects as well cause I have never had one get infected.
However if I use it on a small cut, it gets infected every time.

Strange. I have no troubles with dry skin, but in the summertime I sure sweat a lot. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

New skin doesn’t work for me and always peels off in 10 minutes

Superglue has the same bonding agent as derma-bond that they use in hospitals to close incisions after surgery
