Many times you can just replace the piston and rings and disassembly with be your guidance. Old saw and considered the arborist saw in the day.
Not a very service friendly saw but very simple once done.
I'd definitely get an IPL and service manual for reference.
I read the posts on paint and personally found the Husqvarna paint at Lowe's a good match.
Consider updating to chip if points and condenser.
Good luck. Keep us updated.

So I posted in another thread dunno how to link it buthttps://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/where-now.344386/#post-7338615 the pistons don’t match up with the headed, can I swap pistons and header? With the one saw, I’m very new and need some one to answer many questions I have!

Having trouble finding a piston and cylinder and gaskets any advice?

Personally I'd opt for used. Cylinder should last forever...piston can be replaced.
The link doesn't imply anything other then parts are available.

I’d rather used but having trouble finding it I have a 020 av super can I put that piston and cylinder in a 020?

I'm not that intimately familiar.
By obtaining the IPL's specific to the models in question you could compare part numbers but that doesn't preclude you from simply trying to see what fits.

I'm sure there are others here that might be more familiar. I was a dealer tech in the late 70's and early 80's and relying on my fading memory. Fair to say these sold in small numbers then as much as today with a light weight arborist saw.

Good luck with your project.
