There are no leaves up top but there is new growth on the trunk.

Looks like it's trying, but get that ring and soil away from the base - might be causing girdling roots and choking the trunk.

I’m wondering if that is a Fringe Tree. There’s been some talk of it being an alternate host for EAB. Looks like the last stages of EAB damage on Ash.

That's a good call Jed. Decent size for a white fringetree, does look like EAB trunk suckering.

I’m assuming that’s eab holes after reading about it. Is there a way to save it or do I just cut it down? Thanks too guys

Those holes are from a sapsucker woodpecker. White fringetree will have very fragrant white lacey flowers, did your tree?

No white flowers. The wife wants it cut down, but if it can be saved let me know
