Do I have a live oak growing along my garden fence?

Live Oaks around me have sharp thorns on their leaves, even small ones like that.
I know what you mean. I’ve had them get in my pocket, and they jab me in the leg through my pants. I checked this for that, the top leaves are still soft. The lower ones are stiffening up and developing that sharp point.
Edit: I didn’t feel the brown leaves at the bottom, I felt the lowest green ones.

Looks like a canyon live oak to me, see lots them popping up on our property in meadow lakes.
