It's going, just getting home from work and working tomorrow so hardly an ideal "weekend" :)

I hear that. Monday Tuesday off this week? I used to like working Sunday night-thur, always got Fridays off, then they changed my schedule :rare2:. Guess that's why they call it work not play .

What is the standing water in the back from? Recent rain or???

From the photo, think you could drop any trees you want with no risk to septic system

Don't mind my messy yard lol. The pipe in the back on the right hand side is water. The back of the cement is 20 feet from the house.and the septic tank is to the left of the kids picnic table.
Your well has to be 50' minimum from any part of the septic system in Michigan. Typically, unless it doesn't (that's a quote from a septic tank cleaner in my area  ) the drain field comes off the tank on the side away from the house. That should rule out a sizable area.
