Finally tore apart the toy saw to get some porting. First off this thing is insane. So tiny.

So the squish with no gasket is .022". and timing is as follows: 115/135/66 BD:20. I'm not sure how I could go about doing machine work on this cylinder except for cutting the base down .005" to get squish at .017". I'd like to take at least .015" off the base. Any ideas how to chalk up a cylinder like this so i could cut the squish band? Maybe I could do a pop. I could also do the sand paper stuck to the end of the mandrel deal. Maybe take off another .005" doing it that way.

Anyways I'm not sure where to go with the timing on such a small cylinder. Probably take the intake to 70 and raise the exhaust the same. Keep the same blow down or shorten it a few degrees. I will also be modding the muffler and advancing the timing.

what do you think that tiny hole is for on the exhaust port?

Any ideas?

I would say the hole in the exhaust port is a compression release. I would just take a bit off the intake skirt of the piston to increase intake timing and maybe match the lower transfer ports to the case. Just cut a cardboard gasket for a template of the base of cylinder and case so you can mark them to match them up

I think I’ll cut .005 off the base, lower the intake a few degrees and widen it, widen and raise the exhaust two degrees then polish everything up. I’ll try advancing the timing and gutting the muffler too.

I’ll take a look at the lower transfers as well. Base gasket delete and cutting the base should give some compression gain

I like that idea. I am wondering though if cutting the band is necessary. The base gasket is .015 and I could take another .005 off the base. .020” is a decent drop as is. Huskihl do you have a opinion on the port timing? Timing numbers on a jug this small don’t make a ton of sense to me. Is 115 equivalent to 105 or so on a 70cc saw?

Ended up just taking .010 off the piston to make a pop up then took .015 off the base.
