My dad has a Echo CS-310. He currently is running a 14" bar on it and he asked me if he could run a 16" bar on it. However, since its only a 30.5cc engine could it run a 16" bar and chain effectively?
Echo 310 14" to 16" bar?

14" is perfect. It will pull a 16", but it will pull a 14" better.

14” feels ideal on mine, I’m certain longer would be do-able but much less enjoyable with a 16”. Doubly-so if it hasn’t been tuned with a muff mod and carb adjustment. If 16” is really important, upgrading to the bigger-engine twin, the cs352, could be an option.
But to complicate the answer a little, I recently measured my 310’s factory 14” bar, and it’s quite long, like 15”.
