One day I noticed bare spots in the service line form the street pole to my meter. The outside meter box is also needing to be replaced. It's been the same drop line and outside cut off box for 40 years. The power company is going to replace the service line from the street to the meter, and I'm gonna have to replace the outside cut off box as well. The outside box wont even disconnect because it's so old and corroded.
Does this look safe to you?

Looks like the one I had replaced 3-4yrs ago. Time to pay up.
I have the new box sitting here ready to go. Just waiting for the power company to come replace the service line and I'll swap the box out then.
The breaker box in the shop is just as old and I wanted to replace it and when I went out to the pole to shut the service off, that's when I discovered how bad the inside of the box looked.
So I'm having to redo everything from the street all the way to new breaker boxes in the building. Yep the cost is adding up. It lasted over 40 years. The service drop line from the street is about 300 feet, I hope the power company doesn't charge me for that.
Cross my fingers!

Looks fine to me. What's the problem? It works, doesn't it?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, is my motto.

Here's a pic of some electrical work I didn't think needed fixing:

Must have been a bird that shorted something out in there.......

Last summer was down stairs saw puddle water under Breaker box-pulled cover condensation in box, lot of corrosion so had been going on for quite sometime . feed line comes into house under ground then up to meter then into home That nice 2.5-3" pipe was directing that lovely hot moist air from outside into the panel. got the electric co out dig up outside stuff so we could try to seal it ( duct seal) and then did the same on inside - we will see what this summer brings. They didn't want to use an expanding foam hence the duck seal.
