Fence and Redwood Trees

I have been having problems with this section of my fence which shouldn’t have been built between these two lovely Redwood trees in my backyard.

As shown below, the Redwood on the left has a circumference of about 158” while the one inside my yard on the right is about 178”.

I want to build a new fence away from the two Redwood trees. (Pushing the fence to the left to maybe line up with my neighbor.)
I am wondering what is a good distance to prevent damaging the tree roots due to digging, pouring concrete etc and to prevent the root system from damaging the fence as well in the long run?

Thank you!
