Fiberglass boom question about knicks in boom

My boom has some gouges and knicks that go into the surface of the fiberglass on the upper boom. From chainsaws rubbing on them and branches. Is this something that may cause an issue or can I just cover with new gel coat.

Other than strength, any surface imprefection effects electrical isolation. Don't utility and trimming services need electrostatic testing on the boom?
