Many years ago I would cut a slot in a log to put the bar and chain into which worked OK. Actually it took two slots so the bar and chain was away from you to make it a little easier to file. Then I started experimenting with vices as now I have several. Most of them have a lag bolt welded to bottom of vice. It is quite handy to screw vice into a stump or log to make a steady work area. Yes after some practice one can really fly. For most part I can adjust chain a little screw down vice sharpen and be ready to cut in under fifteen minutes which is nice. Thanks
