My oldest nephew (25) and my brother in law are my main two cutting companions. Both tower over my shrimpy 5’10’’ frame, strong as can be and great guys. Wish my Uncle lived closer cause not only does he own a dozen saws but has felled more trees than I ever will and is a wealth of knowledge/experience. Both of my regular pals defer to me to drop em, which I can do fine. But there’s always that tree that makes your tush pucker.....

You fellas got regular cutting/firewood pals?

I will add, both are down right great guys too!

EVERY guy in my family is taller than me. I can lick both of these guys arm wrestling, but I think there added weight helps them “muscle” the wood rounds around. Power to weight, I’m no slouch, but I think there added mass helps them muscle big rounds. Maybe their legs are just used to hustling more weight....

5'10" is a bit more than I can muster (not by much). I envy you having a couple of cutting companions. I pretty much always work alone. Being retired doesn't help as I'm not constrained by weekends like working folks are. I try to be very safety aware as I understand how dangerous this can be.

I wear chaps and a helmet whenever cutting and safety glasses when splitting. Can never be too safe. I actually yelled at my nephew the other day, he had his helmet on, muffs on, just the screen flipped up...... I was like, am I really seeing this?!?

Mostly alone . My wife will help on her days off but she is a personal trainer so her work week includes weekends now. My BIL helps out on occasion . My son used to but now has a very demanding week job and he still does wedding photography and commercials for some local business.

I always were my chaps gloves boots and helmet. Saw a guy get cut real bad on the thigh once. Not a nice sight.

I do some of my own taking down of the trees with my skid loader and a three foot hyd saw. I have two friends that help do most of my bucking and splitting which is about 15 cord a year one is a old college buddy from 40 plus years and the other I have known on and off for the last 22 years and the last 15 he has been a big help at the farm. You can't put a price on good friends. When they need something done at there place I drop what I am doing and get over there one is 20 miles away and the other is 60 miles. I would be screwed around the farm with out them. I make sure they have a very merry Christmas every year.

I have a helper or two but only for when I'm just going back to haul a load home that I already cut down. They also help run the processor for a while. The rest of the time I'm alone. My wife and daughter will sometimes stack wood but firewooding is my downtime so I prefer to do it alone.

Just me and my 5 year old son and sometimes my 4 year old daughter. My son pushes the big rounds over to the splitter with his wheel horse for me. He also drags smaller stuff in front of me out while I’m pulling bigger stuff out. My daughter just tells me what to do lolView attachment 788243View attachment 788244

Sounds like the daughter is fully on board to become a wife!

Awesome pics of the kids helping out. My little one has always been my helper running the valve and stacking. No recent pics but a ton of older ones. She tries to duck the camera now...

I joke with my bro in-law, her husband is gonna owe me big time. This little girl can do everything a redneck boy can do and better, She’s pretty wicked on a ATV too
