i used a good size piece of Fir that has been down about 1.5 years I think so it’s going to be a little seasoned up I’d think. No splits anywhere so far. I cut the quarter round off the downed tree on Christmas. I’ve sanded it some with a 5” grinder last night after buying some new flap wheels. Going fishing today so not going to work on it much I don’t think but that could change. I’m going to cut more off the top of the axe head but keeping it for strength now. And I’m thinking about torching the axe head and making the handle look nice and roughin up the base7985B99D-35D2-489C-8E83-55322A0B4760.jpeg77B6B1B3-9598-4393-A973-BB2DED0E90B2.jpeg F0087080-078A-49C2-9E69-4992A3A0CD25.jpeg064 doing work and did th rest with a ms36288658CE0-3708-4805-B719-7725AC057550.jpeg 57F65DE0-22FE-4C62-BC00-D7A16440C9FB.jpeg

Done. Does 150$ sound fair?put boiled linseed oil on and it sucked it up like a sponge. Hopefully I didn’t put too much on. It stared getting A lot of small checks in the base and couple good size ones in the axe head. Guess I should have finished it faster and got the oil on it. 4CAA57D7-7D72-4D50-8C86-60357E31DDCD.jpegB58ECE3B-FEF7-4D4F-BE83-A6B1C0E37CE2.jpeg

Didn’t smooth after the flap wheel with a orbital sander because I don’t have one. Just 60 and 80 grit paper by hand. So it’s got some blemishes but looks good enough for me. Well until the next hopefully made of oak

I like it man!
I'm terrible at putting prices on these things, but I'd say that's a pretty fair number for both sides.

I like it, and a lamp base in a cabin would be great. Sale price? I've found that people value something you made at about 6 cents per hour, especially on CL. If they commission you to make it, the sky is the limit. I have 3" by 30" Red Oak slabs, air dried for 3 years. I make mantles or counter tops, and tables. If I take them to a show,, and they leave with a smile. I get offers of about $50 each. If some one comes to my place and hand picks one, it's $200
