Looks like a nice flat top there.
My 066 red light cost $400 with a KS jug.
My o64 was $360, but I had to rebuild the carb and replace the coil. Somebody beat that saw with an ugly stick before I got it. It's no princess.
What bar and chain you can get with saw makes a big difference too. Bars aren't cheap. Multiple bars or chains can easily raise the price by $200 and still be worth it.

There are some horror stories of the 661s heating up and dying. The diagnosis ranges from bad solenoids, to full carb replacements, to faulty control modules. Mtronic issues that are difficult to diagnose without swapping expensive parts. There's a thread up on tree buzz about it right now. I know a lot of people are really happy with these saws and have no problems, but if you get a lemon out of warranty you're going to drop a lot of coin to fix it.

I'm not trying to pick a fight here. I do not own a 661. Partially because I have read others' complaints, partially because I like old saws, and mostly because they're pricey. I really want one from Tree Monkey...

Tech can complicate issues for sure
I don't post to get into "fights"...that's for the fanboys in the csf
I've had two 661s, both ported. Zero issues with either, but I didn't keep them long enough to have any, I suppose.

I also had a near perfect condition 660, which I sold last year for a lot more than $750.

661 is much smoother, has better air filtration(but this can be fixed on the 660) & had more power stock-to-stock than the 660 I felt.

Here’s my ole girl just playing around behind the house yesterday. Threw on a 36” bar and just did a little cutting here and there. Del did an amazing number on her

Knock them as hard as you want. For every Dolmar sold probably 1000 Stihls are sold. Must be some reason. BTW the old 166 Dolmar was a vibration machine. Mike
For milling, I would buy a 395xp. I'm not knocking the 066 at all, just saying if I had a choice, I would take a 661 over a 660. I've had both, and that's what I prefer. I've also had a few 044/440s, a 288xp, 385xp, 2188, and 395xp... they were all much smoother to run than an 1122 Stihl. I had a chance to buy a Dolmar 143 a while back, and passed because after running it for a minute I decided I didn't care for the vibes. Maybe I'm just too picky...

If you dont like vibes, then you REALLY don't want to run a standard non AV 090. Then again, neither do I, although the geardrives tend to tame the vibes a bit. 066 vibes bother me a bit too as I've had elbow injuries and thats where I feel it. Funny that the 880 and 088 I had didn't seem to bother me, nor does a Mac 125.

If I had a choice, I would make the 661 a lot less expensive than they are so the choice between that and the 66/660 wasn’t such a no brainer.....in favor of the 660.

Barely used ms661c-m 25" bar, once used chain $900
