The btu out put of the heater is assumed on the temp of the water. So if 180 is the standard like it is in the hvac world then raise the temp to 190 and get a lot more btu. It's the same with baseboard. Once you get it up to temp 50k might maintain the temp but to ask it to bring it up to temp when it's cold it will take a while.
 
I think I would add more baseboard or heater capacity first. The hotter the water the bigger the heat loss (from piping and boiler).
 
Well, I got the 190k btu hooked up this morning. Fairly loud, but tolerable. It's a good bit larger, but honestly I really thought the 50k would be about this size. It definitely moves a lot more air. You can feel it about 15' away, you had to be within 5-7' to feel the 50k. I believe I've got a winner with this one!
