Hello All. So, I'm very green when it comes to trees and species Identification and when you throw being color blind in the mix its a mess. I am trying to identify a few logs and a nice burl I'm guessing it is. Its about 2.5 ft tall and 36+ wide and very scaly. The other logs are from different trees obviously but need help labeling them as well if anyone could so kindly help me out.
On another note there are also some other trees growing here. Here being the side of a mountain near Huntsville Alabama. These trees grow under the shade of all the larger trees but they are really odd. They are very cool looking almost from a fairytale. They seem to grow and immediately twist and twist some more and arch back to the ground. They look like driftwood or petrified wood with amazing roots that almost make art with the way they grow. I will get some photos of them when I go back over there today but maybe someone will know by the description. Sorry for such a long post. Thanks for any chimes on this subject. I appreciate any and all shared knowledge and opinions. 20190427_155543.jpg 20190427_155518.jpg 20190427_155346.jpg 20190427_155314.jpg 20190427_155250.jpg 20190427_155227.jpg 20190427_155008.jpg 20190427_155117.jpg 20190427_155135.jpg 20190427_155047.jpg

the burl, if it were around here, i would say looks like cottonwood, not very familiar with what grows by you. the hollow rounds appear to be ash, maybe basswood. the rotten log looks like a maple of some sort.
