Good morning fellow Homelite collector/junkies. There's a Homelite 8800 on Facebook Marketplace located in Ironton Ohio that's priced at $350.00. It's overall a nice looking desirable saw, and hard to come by. I have one and am fighting CAD, especially with Christmas coming. Good luck, Max.

I've got a couple of 990D's that will be used as parts donors for a couple of 990G's. They are strong saws that a just a very slight tad under a 3100 in power. They will however make your ears bleed unlike the the 3100.
I've had a 990D apart to restore for about 3 years. I have a hard time getting motivated to stick with it. I've even got custom tinted paint and decals sitting ready for it. It goes on the back burner at the drop of a hat. [emoji849] I did tinker with it recently though.

I don't think anything compares to a 3100G for power. But they are a bit lacking in style. The 9 series are so very nice to look at.

I've been sitting on these for 7 or 8 years. Seems like I've been honing my repair skills in the meanwhile. When I dragged my 900D out the other day to use, that kind of got me interested in going back to. They need and deserve more than just carb kits and fuel lines.

I have never run the 2 saws side by side in big wood.. I understand many loggers liked the power using the vertical cylinder 900 series with long bars.. I think reliability wasn't horrible either.. I plan to run these 2 in some hard wood soon...1130g will be at disadvantage displacement wise.

Looks like a good start so far... I know how hard it is to get into these projects sometimes.. just have to get to a stage of excitement again..

Just saw that. There's also an 1130G with 60" bar in Indiana..., $850.00.

The only way I could tell the power difference was to make a cut with a 900g the immediately switch the bar and chain over to the 3100 and make a cookie cut in the same wood. The difference was slight but noticable. The main difference was the 3100 was a much more civilized saw and seemed smoother. Its kind of like comparing an early 797 and a sp125.

Moved to the 990D while waiting on parts for the 9-26. Same drill--stripped down to the crank and cleaned. Replaced the upper and lower rod bearings. They weren't as tired as those in the 9-26 but it's a good investment. New rings brought compression up. I raided a Buz parts saw for a couple clutch thrust washers. I always seem to find these missing or out of order or subsituted. Had to pull the flywheel back off. It was dragging on the little aluminum spark plug wire guard.

Got the 990D done. I didn't mess around with trying reseal old gaskets--just cut new ones. I am still lacking a bar cover for this saw. For now it is wearing one off my 9-23. Cranks right up and idles beautiful.

I'd like to find a couple more of these 25" hardnose bars, if anybody here has one.

Well if all your missing is a bar cover, I guess your gonna have to get the one we discussed.
