Homelite changed the number for the 82cc VI-944 piston/pin kits from 67989 to 49314, but the 49314 kit on has one ring, is this right?

Spent the morning working on another 76/130. I pulled it down. New kit and some plumbing. I ended up swapping out the clutch/drum to a 3". Bearing, race, washers etc., came off of a busted up 101. Works fine. I also tried my hand at whipping up a spike for it. I went a bit larger than OEM. I find them up to the task, but a bit anemic in the larger bark. Mounted up okay, but I need to get better nuts/washers. Another project squared away.

I've a couple of NOS A-65598 drums on hand. I'd like to mount them up, as they are rim setups. I need to track down a couple of 64124 bearings and 65985 races, though.

I buy sprockets, hubs, rims, drums, bearings, and races in quantities, that way you get a better deal and have them on hand. Nice dogs.

I ended up going all in with an XL-1 today. I brought some bigger machines, but they just sat on the tailgate watching the little guy pig out. 3 tanks and some big rounds. No hesitation. Every time I run these diminutive sleepers, they earn their accolades. Nimble and quick enough for limbs. Steady through the 10" and under. Dogged determination when buried.

A bit of buck shot and such in the bottom 10 feet of this windfall. Semi-chisel didn't mind and held the tooth just swell. I steered clear from the last 6 feet and the butt end just to play safe. Not the nicest area to be cutting in, but I snag them when I can.

Stopped by one of my favorite scrap yards today and was handled this abandoned xl 12 ( payment due next time I pass by).
First one I got with the Zama carburetor ,funny but it does run on prime and pop with the choke closed, so the diaphragms in the carb are probably hard as poker chips.

I think the UT1045C (1981) was the first year for the ZAMA carbs, it might have been earlier, but not much. I've never seen a saw that age look like that. It looks like it sat in the back window of a half sunk boat for 20 years. I bet the white death is upon that one.

Pretty happy with how the XL-1 ran. It compelled me to pull down a box full of Super Mini and XL-1 parts and carcasses. Clean top ends, but I don't recall their history. Going to cobble a couple more together. Mix and match.

I have a nice XL1 cylinder for 10 bucks plus shipping, it looks new or almost new
 
Some while back I accumulated a large supply of Homelite documents including IPL's, Technical Service Bulletins, Owners Manuals, etc....there were more added to the pile after this photo was taken.

I have gone through all of the materials and put together an assortment for my purposes and find I have quite a pile of stuff left over. L-R we have Numerical Parts Lists up through around 2000, IPL's including chain saws, string trimmers, blowers, pumps, construction equipment, you get the picture...Technical Service Bulletins for saws, trimmers, blowers, etc., and a couple of owners manuals.

If you want any or all of it, just pay the postage. If these don't go away I will eventually burn them or haul them to the landfill just to get rid of them.

Made a loop of .404 chisel for a 22" Remington bar ,fits the 1050 super pretty good.
The first thing we did with most of our saws was take the dogs off. I don't remember what the ones that came off ours looked like? Those are some BAD DOGS. I know I have 3 1050's, maybe 4. I'm going to check the one I bought last year with the full wrap bar. It came from a logger and might still have dogs on it.

I had an old guy at a shop tell me that if I only had one spike/ dog I should take it off or the saw will always cut crooked, is that why you guys took them off? He was referring mostly to production bucking.
 
Can anyone confirm the oil line routing on this Super 2? UT10654 Yellow line to filter,,, clear line to duckbill...
