Last time I took a saw to a shop he couldn't pull the flywheel, a Homelite Super 1050, and still charged me 35 bucks to take it apart. I bought a puller at Advanced Auto that worked great, just had to get smaller long bolts and use washers to keep them from puling through. A few months ago I needed to pull a Super XL12 flywheel and the one I bought wouldn't work. Found a piece of steel flat bar. Drilled a hole in the center and put a bolt through it to rest on the crank, marked where the two flywheel bolts were, drilled those holes. Took ten minutes to make the puller and two minutes to pull the flywheel. Most nuts and bolts are pretty standard, so one of those 150 piece tool kits in a big plastic box will probably have everything you need. If you run into something you can't do, if you sit and stare at it long enough you can usually make the "special tool" you need.
