... by practicing with my spurs (I'm a novice) on the Western Red Cedars on my property? They are all second growth and located in the PNW. I have several large-ish (24-36" at the butt) trees I would like to go low and slow on but I'm concerned that they will suffer for it. I certainly don't intend to use just one; I'm thinking of spreading the damage around but its unclear to me if Cedars will accept the abuse. I know Doug Fir and other thick skinned trees are less affected by spur climbing. Any thoughts, insights or suggestions?
