thanks to you guys I want to rework my muffler for my 2100. There’s two different mufflers one had a square shape with a series of slotted vents with a square shaped spark arrestor. The other has a round exhaust port with a spark arrestor that’s coned shaped. I’m thinking of taking both designs and apply it to one muffler so it can exhaust better.

There was a 10mm deeper "jungle" muffler. if you can still find one somewhere it might be a better starting point.

They’re like hens teeth, you’ll pay dearly to get someone to let go of it! I have a pile of parts enough to put a complete Saw together, minus a salvageable cylinder and decent muffler!

Either stock version of those mufflers are adequate for one that's ported. Make sure the screen is cleaned or removed.
One good mod is to disable the flood limiter if you haven't done so.

We put a plastic hole punch disc under the brass screw? What’s the flood limiter?

So with a 2100 muffler no mod is needed.

I found a 2100 muffler with the top exhaust port and the imbossed square for the lower exhaust grill type port. I have the screen for the lower port but I need to fab the four screw slotted grill frame. I wouldn’t be adding much to the flow of the exhaust. Just a tad more flow.

This is the jungle muffler: https://www.arboristsite.com/community/media/jungle-muffler.893/
NOS in package on ebay was around $45, but did not have the spark screen
This series all came with the outer slotted grill baffle. Most came with either or both, the spark screen and an internal round can baffle. All 3 pieces were held by the 4 outer screws.
IMO just the slotted grill alone is all you need and want.
My 298XP has the top/side exit muffler. It's OK, but I like the jungle one, as is, much better

I purchased a few early 77 mufflers with this louvre square exhaust post. I have a 2100 that has the top exhaust for with an area for the square port in the lower section. I need to cut a circle for the spark arrestor and fab or use one of the louvered square four screw plates. I think I’d rather copy one. I purchased four new spark arrestor for this louvered setup.

Here’s some pics. My plans to modify my 2100 muffler. The early 2100 with the top exhaust and indentation for the lower square port. Second is the 77 muffler with the square port.

Any thoughts on my muffler mod? I figure to port one of my 2100’s. The exhaust mod should work too. I need to look for my 16” 404”/050” speed cutting bar. I think one of my other 2100’s has a jungle muffler on it.

I just purchased a 2100 with the top exhaust port and again the jungle port that needs to be cut out. Lucky again.
