Maybe I didn't look in the right place but I'm looking for information on that decomp valve that screws into the cylinder on both the 335 and 338xpt and it's got a rubber hose the goes on to another little rubber hose with a check valve insert what is the correct name for the component and what does it do.

It’s an automatic compression release and this saw needs it for the starter pulley to last.

If it isn't sealing up properly will it prevent the swap from starting that makes sense right

You can remove it and plug the hole like you would if you removed a stanard decomp valve , but you need to plug the vacuum line also. I would check the system out and repair if needed as these little saws are tough on the starter pulley.
