Is a Husky 55 Rancher big enough to cut 16 inch logs using a Alaskan sawmill.

The saw is 53 CC's and produces about 3.2 HP. Yes it can do CS milling but not with the athourty that bigger saws can.
I have seen people useing a 40cc chain saw on a mill but they were not going very fast.

Also keep in mind there about 3 models of the 55
(1. standard model
(2. 55EPA which I own.
(3 the 55 rancher.

Thank you. Trying to avoid having to buy a new saw. Father-in-law just had his property timbered and they left a lot of tops with considerable size and would like to try my hand at milling. Is there a ripper chain you recommend?

I have a 55 Rancher, and I have used it to mill smaller stuff, it isn’t near as fast as my husky 2101, but it’s near half the size. It is kinda fun to see what the little bugger will do though.
