I need advice on problems im having with a husqvarna 240. It has been running fine for the past year, but a few days ago the chain popped off while using it and since then the rope is very hard to pull. Its not a constant resistance but just once per rotation it jerks back with a lot of force. My first guess was whenever the chain popped loose the sheer key might have broken too messing up the timing, but when i pulled the flywheel it was fine. It does spin freely with the sparkplug removed. I have already checked the following and i am out of ideas on what else could cause this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1. sheer key is fine
2. No play in crank shaft so bearings are fine
3. No wear or scoring on piston
4. Carburetor is clean and working properly
5. Exhaust is clear

Does your saw have a rim and drum on the clutch? If so is the chain engaged in the pins on the rim correctly or is it hitting the case/crank.?
