I recently rebuilt a 242xpg. It was not splitted. Only cylinder/piston inspection, and new gaskets. Its in great shape. At first startup it was acting like it has a vacuum leak. After firing It started idling higher and higher, and it would die when i used the throttle too much. Turning the L-screw didnt help.

I opened the gas-cap and it suddenly came down to normal idle. The tank vent may be clogged. With the cap open it runs very rich. I turn the L-screw hole way in but still its acting like it running rich. Any suggestions?? Carb fault? Or still a vacuum problem?

Yes, its ported.

A 242xpg? Hate to break it to you, but it's garbage, man. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly.

Problem solved. Someone opened the carb and forgot to put back the seals in the carb its a nice running saw. Unfortunately you cannot buy this garbage
