Good afternoon my name is Alan Coles from Cornwall England I am new to this forum so first I would like to say hello to you all.

I've recently bought a 281xp and while changing the bar and chain I have noticed a seal between the drive sprocket and the oiler is damaged I understand there is two variations on the worm drive to the oiler mine is the type with out the "top hat" style worm. Could some one post a picture of what should be fitted to my saw af the clutch drum also feels like it has to much play in and out. I am struggling to workout what are the correct parts for this saw. Thank you in advance.
Regards Alan

Thank you for the quick replys. The serial number on the saw is 0490144 on a black label. What year is that please? It's looking like I am a washer/spacer missing if that's the correct drawing.

image.jpg Is part number 503 23 00-14 normally attached to the worm drive or is it separate? Also I think I am missing part numbers 503 49 50-01 , 50127 74-01 and 501 59 82-01. I will take some pics today and post on here to show you what's on. Thank you for your time.

I fairly sure that 503 49 50-01 is press fitted into the aluminium pump body.

Just tore it down and this is what I have got it seems your right part 503 49 50-01 is pressed in to the oiler housing. the two rings sat one on top of the other were loose around the shaft I assume that is all that is left of part number 501 27 74-01. but I am still missing parts 501 27 74-01 and 501 59 82-01. would fitting these parts reduce the movement of the clutch drum in and out? The oil pump worm has a washer set in to it that I have flipped out in one of the pictures is that part number 503 23 00-14 or am I missing that as well? the worm seems like it is to far in towards the crank and could be spaced back this would then reduce the clutch drum movement in and out. sorry for all the questions.
Regards Alan

Looks like the washer has worn into the plastic worm drive.
I'd be replacing it and the other two worn parts(v ring and dust seal)

You should get a new inner bar plate too, 501 81 48-01

thank you for your reply I've looked over the worn drive and like you say it does look like the washer has worn in to it. I will make a list of parts I need and go on a hunt.
regards Alan

Hate to resurrect this but I'm putting mine back together and when I took it apart it had two v-rings. Ipl shows one. Is that why mine failed or or am I skipping something?
