I just purchased a 181se and have another 181se and a 288 Xp to play with someday. These saws are little monsters to cut with. I want to relive my times cutting with one but also let my sons run them too. There a tad larger than a 266se/Xp but more power.

There’s no replacement for displacement.

I had a spare rusty 181 muffler so I figured I would "improve" the flow. The deflector is welded on and the stock opening was cut much larger.

Just waiting for the paint to dry now.

The 288 I did a quick woods port on seems to have lots left on the table, but it has a stock muffler, so I will see if this helps.

My buddy had a 181 built to speed cut with at the local fair. All of us inbthat open class ran it. I was fortunate to break it in the woods first. I was the last one to cut with it, five guys went ahead of me. It was cutting faster the hotter it got, I was the last guy cutting with it and cleaned house. I had to buy three of them recently.

A 266 and 181/288 make a great combo of saws to have, I just ordered compression release cylinders for my 181/288./ 266.

I picked up a husky 371xp for a 20 year old saw it sounds really healthy. Much like my 266’s only more power. If your looking for a 70 cc saw the 371/372 Xp is it.

I seen on you tube there is a change over from a 365 husky x torque saw to a Xp saw. Is there a big difference in performance between the two.

I have over the last year grown to love this 42 special, muffler modded, squish reduced, timing advanced. It's now my go to saw. I like its weight and balance more than the old 346's. I use this and a Makita 6100 now as my go to saws. This 42 rocks. I have used most 40-60cc modern saws and this is just a dream. Kinda like a ms241 but peppier and what feels to be built better.
