I have an old Southernaire wood furnace that has served me well. Last season one of the grates cracked in half, it's still usable but I would like to replace it. I have looked around for one but have not had any success. The size is 9" x 14" one half inch thick. Are there any places I can look or call to see if I can find one? Thanks in advance for any sources!!

Made one for my Volcano woodstove using re-bar and it held up well.

Bring some re-bar and I have the cut off wheels and welder. If you live in the thumb, bet every farmer near you has a welder and knows how to use it. Local welders here are not that unreasonably priced.

I would weld it, but if you want something new then maybe you could order an oversized grate from Amazon or some other retailer and size it to fit with a grinder.

I use steel bar grating in my homemade maple syrup evaporator. It works very well for that application, but might not work as well for your application.

Wow that stuff is $$$$$. For 3/16" 3x6 ft it's over $600!

I can buy enough 1/2" flat stock and put one together for 1/6 of that cost.
