I was dumping a load of logs at my local sawmill today. The yard super told me 2 of my last load had metal in them Bummer.Especially because they were 24 and 30" white oak. I was apparently from a old cattle fence and deep in the log.
He asked if i wanted them back I told him no i didnt have time to haul the back to the yard. Then i asked him how many rejects he had.He took me around back and showed me a pile or stack about 16' tall and 60-70' long! I asked him what he did with them he replied he sells them to firewood guys for 50.00 load fee.
He said most firewood guys bring in a tandem 24' goose neck. Maybe your local mill offers the same.Excellant deal IMO!
