Is it normal for Stihl MotoMix to evaporate while sitting in BG86 tank during storage inside?

Hi:
I have a one year old Stihl BG-86 blower that I brought inside the house for the winter and I am sure I had at least 1/2 a tank of Stihl MotoMix fuel when I put it away,but today I went to use it for the first time and the tank was bone dry?!!...fuel cap was tight and no leaks anywhere.Is this common for the MotoMix to evaporate even when tank cap is tight? Yes plastic is a poor storage for fuel. I can fill a plastic can and a steel can with fuel and in 3 months the plastic can is about a quarter ways down and the steel can is still full.
