These have been drying in my house for 1 year. It’s about 2.5” thick. I’m starting to think if they will ever dry like this? It’s glued on both sides. Oak stared to crack but not the walnut. They both have nice grain but the walnut looks really good 775939C8-6641-4902-818A-42791C352B09.jpeg

You need a moisture meter. This one has another set of longer probes that you drive in with a hammer. Amazon.

In the hundred of Pacific Big Leaf Maple Gunstock Blanks we dried, never had a split. But they were dried in outside sheds with no heat. We had dehumidifiers in the sheds. Anchor Seal on each end, recoated monthly. And exhaust fans. Takes a long time!

I think inside a house is too warm.

Rounds are tough to dry without splits due to all the internal tension.

It’s all glued and hard wood. Probably brake my meter pushing and smacking on it. I’ll wait till I got the kind that doesn’t use probes. Mainly wondering if it will actually dry this way?
